Yesterday morning Mike tooks us out on Der Dom for a nice little day sail. We left Fox Island at around 11:00 and motored out to the Tacoma Narrows. We hoisted sail but there was no wind and after about 30 minutes of spinning in the current we fired up the engine and motored to the West side of the island where we caught some nice, approximately 10 knot, winds from the South which carried us on a beam reach all the way down to the mouth of Horsehead bay. We got to try out the whisker pole running wing and wing with Mike’s 130 Genoa.
We had the same wind most of the way back and had a nice sail close hauled back to the South end of the island. We motored from there back to the home port.
Along for the trip were Kyle Larsen from work, Mike and Dad, and Mike Schloss. It was a great day out!
